From the title, I expected something interesting from the OP. Maybe something about the latest update, some fascinating observation. Instead, this...

As price is determined by supply and demand, demand for in game shinnies is going to disappear like the bubble bursting in the financial markets after the internet go go days and real estate market crash the last couple of years.
So why do you care people are able to speed clear some higher difficulty areas solo or duo for their shinnies, when having 100,000 ectos will basically mean squat when the GW2 comes on?

Someone who's mad that he never managed to speed clear and jealous of players with more imaginary wealth than him.

I play the game for fun and for the moment. When you take the "fun" away, it is no longer enjoyable to play. While playing monopoly if a rule were developed to say "this money is fake, you can take as much as you want, because when we stop playing it means nothing", I would most likely not play monopoly. The RMT market has no affect any longer on MMO's for the casual player, in turn enjoyment is the focus of the casual player. For some, people running around in "god mode" takes away the enjoyment. Look at it from an unbiased perspective, invincible builds don't make the game fun for everyone. The chance of failure is what makes the game enjoyable and worth playing, regardless of what happens when GW2 is released.

So if someone else is running around in god mode, this takes away my(or other peoples) fun playing GW? Why do I/they care?
This goes to people defining what is right and wrong in the game for other people. I am glad SF is gone, but not because other people using it made the game less fun for myself or others. Who the hell am I/they to decide what is and is not fun for others?

as usual many commentators just do not bother to understand what someone else has written but just spew out what they want to say...
My point which may have evolved some from the beginning of the thread is...
GW1 is shrinking and may go away completely in a year or so... with that in mind.. ectos...and other shines in GW1 will have lower and lower relative value.
thus why spend time and other resources on trying to control how people farm? From the player and Anet perspective.

Relative value of GW items and GW currency doesn't change if the playerbase shrinks. It would only change if a particular group of players quit much more than others, but so far it looks all player groups decrease evenly.

Trying to get your points across or hide your materialistic views on life by saying Guild Wars is going to end is sad. Just sad.
Why did you make this thread here anyway? I know you don't want to "tell" other players the value of items is going down, it's something else. Something is wrong with you or there is something eating you up inside and you are trying to justify that everything will be ok by calling everything (ex. Useless, pixels, etc..). Something happened to your shit.

Even "if" GW dies, Anet needs to show their opposition to farming NOW. Or they'll lose players when GW2 comes out. I don't want to buy a game that is dedicated to grind... I'll just go play D3 if that's what I'm after. GW has to show me right NOW that they aren't about farming and grind and that skill is still > time, otherwise they lose a customer. GG.
Who cares about ectos and wealth, its all about retaining the player base at this point in time, and most players don't want to see Farm Wars 2 come out.
